MATCH PREVIEW | U18s look to continue unbeaten run this Thursday
Joint Academy league leaders Leeds Rhinos Under-18s are back in action this Thursday night as Chev Walker side welcome Huddersfield Giants Under-18s to Stanningley, kick off 7pm on Rhinos TV+.
With the season reaching its halfway stage, the Rhinos have put themselves back in the mix for a potential run to the Grand Final as they have wins in all four games so far in 2026. After beating Leigh, Bradford and Castleford earlier in the campaign, they added a tight 22-16 result against Hull FC at the start of the month to their record as tries from Harvey Butterworth, Jacob Hardy, Tom Richardson, Jacob Tooala and Wade White was enough to beat the black and whites. Now sat top of the table on eight points alongside Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves and Wakefield Trinity, Leeds look to continue their good form in the second half of 2026 - beginning with three consecutive home games against Huddersfield, Hull KR and St Helens in May and June.
Huddersfield came close to their first Academy semi-final appearance since 2018 as they were pipped to fourth place in the table by Wigan Warriors last year, but 2026 has so far been a different season for Steve Fox's side.
Although it's still in the early stages of the season, the Giants have one win so far in four games against Leigh Leopards as they find themselves ninth in the standings. Opening with a tight 29-16 result against the Saints in round one, the club looked to be heading in the right direction with a 40-4 away win over the Leopards but dropped form against Yorkshire rivals Hull and Wakefield. As they prepare to take on Leeds and Wigan who are both flying high at the top of the table, the Giants know a result would give them a much-needed boost up the league table and into the conversation for a spot in the top six.
